I like to search for films about once a week. One film that keeps coming up an annoying goose egg is “Ghost Rider 2″ Originally scheduled for 2009 release, the followup to the 2007 blockbuster is no where to be seen, just check out IMDB. Nothing.
And now with Nicholas Cage joining “Kick-Ass”, I don’t think we stand a ghost of a chance of see the “Spirit of Vengeance” on the big screen until 2011. That treads on some other pretty big Marvel projects. Is the Ghost Rider dead? Spill it Marvel, what are you up to?
Although you cannot find out any details just yet. It seems that John Favreau had confirmed that the next Iron Man film is in the works. Its a no brainer of course, but it is nice to hear. Especially since the studio has yet to make an official announcement. I cannot wait to find out who the next villain will be. Here are my top 3:
1. Mandarin - Classic
2. A.I.M - stolen Stark tech and lots of cool villains in suits
3. Hulk - This is a long shot, but I would love to see Iron Man try and wrestle the green one into submission in a super powered crossover
So what do you think it will be? Will they start building to the Avengers right away? Will we see some foreshadowing for the other films?
The clock keeps moving forward and Marvel Studios is in overdrive. DC has a great franchise with Batman, but their other big hero is still in Limbo, which begs the questions. What to do with Superman?
Should they stick with the Singer movie and build upon the mythology of the 1970s Superman movies or take them in a new direction like the Dark Knight films? Both are options that seem to be bouncing around the powers that be.
Option 2 seems like safest bet. Get another auteur with vision to take a stab at the Man of Steel. I certainly did not dislike Singer’s version. I just left the theater feeling wanting. I wanted something that built on the character. I wasn’t a big fan of the kid angle, but even that would have made for a better story. Clark/Superman trying to raise a Super child while saving the world is much mroe interesting then the lukewarm romance of the movie I had to sit through.
What do you think?
